New Delhi, September 24: Fuel prices in India continued to rise for the eighth day on Tuesday. The price of petrol and diesel in metro cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai witnessed a sudden surge, pinching common man's budget. In Delhi, petrol is being sold at Rs 74.13 on Tuesday against Rs 73.91 on Monday, while in Mumbai, petrol was priced at Rs 79.79 against the Rs 79.57 on Monday. Meanwhile, in Chennai, petrol was sold at Rs 77.06 against Rs 76.83 on Monday while in Kolkata, petrol was being sold at Rs 76.82 against Rs 76.60 on Monday. Check today's fuel prices here.

Fuel prices in India have hit a year-high, with diesel at its highest in the last few months. On Tuesday, diesel was priced at Rs 67.07 in Delhi against Rs 66.93 on Monday. In Mumbai, the diesel price was Rs 70.37 against Rs 70.22 on Monday. The price of diesel in Kolkata and Chennai on Tuesday was Rs 69.49 and Rs 70.91 respectively.  Fuel Prices Rise After Saudi Attacks.

The state-run oil marketing companies increased the petrol and diesel prices ever since the drone attack on Saudi Aramco's oil facilities on September 17. Reports inform that the attack led to an almost 5 per cent reduction in the global oil supply. Following the attack, Indian Ambassador in Riyadh contacted the senior management of Aramco to ensure a steady supply to India, reports informed.

Since June 2017, fuel prices in India are revised daily under the dynamic fuel pricing method. The price of petrol and diesel rates are revised at 6:00 am every day since then as compared to the revision every fortnight earlier.
