Pehlu Khan Lynching Case: Rajasthan Government to Appeal Against Judgment of Alwar Court
Rajasthan Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Rajeeva Swarup on Wednesday said that state government has decided to appeal against the judgement of Alwar court of acquitting all six accused in 2017 Pehlu Khan lynching case.
Alwar, August 14: Rajasthan Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Rajeeva Swarup on Wednesday said that the state government has decided to appeal against the judgement of Alwar court of acquitting all six accused in 2017 Pehlu Khan lynching case. The court ruled that a video of Pehlu Khan lynching was not admissible evidence. The hearing in the matter was concluded on August 7 and more than 40 witnesses were deposed. The accused were charged with under several sections of IPC (Indian Penal Code). They were also booked for murder following Pehlu Khan's death. Going to the case, 55-year-old Khan, a dairy farmer, a native of Haryana’s Nuh, was lynched by alleged cow vigilantes in Alwar on Jaipur-Delhi national highway when he was transporting cattle from a cattle market in Jaipur to his village. Even after showing receipt of the purchase, he was thrashed with sticks and rods which led to his death on April 3.
Yogendra Singh, the counsel for the Pehlu Khan's side, said that they are waiting for a copy of the order and inspect it before challenging it in the higher court."The decision of the Court will have to be respected. The Court has released them on the basis of lack of evidence. We will wait for the copy of the order and after going through it we will challenge it in a higher court," Singh said.
