Pehlu Khan Lynching Case: After All Six Accused Acquitted, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot Says ‘Committed to Ensuring Justice, Will Appeal Against Alwar Court Order’

Hours after the Alwar Court on Wednesday acquitted all six accused in Pehlu Khan lynching case, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the state government will appeal against the court's verdict. The court of an Additional District Judge (ADJ) freed six men accused of lynching Pehul Khan on 1st April 1, 2017.

Alwar, August 14: Hours after the Alwar Court on Wednesday acquitted all six accused in Pehlu Khan lynching case, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the state government will appeal against the court's verdict. The court of an Additional District Judge (ADJ) freed six men accused of lynching Pehul Khan on 1st April 1, 2017. Recently, the Rajasthan Assembly passed an anti-mob lynching bill allowing life term and a fine up to Rs 5 lakh to convicts involving victims death.

"Our State Government has enacted a law against mob lynching in the first week of August 2019. We are committed to ensuring justice for the family of late Sh Pehlu Khan. Pehlu Khan, a native of Nuh village in Haryana, was dragged out of the vehicle and assaulted by alleged cow vigilantes in Alwar on the Jaipur-Delhi national highway when he was transporting cattle from a fair to his village. He was beaten with rods and sticks which resulted in his death.

Earlier today, Rajasthan Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Rajeeva Swarup also said that state Congress government will appeal against the judgment of Alwar Court. Meanwhile, Yogendra Singh, the counsel for the Pehlu Khan's side, said that they are waiting for a copy of the order to inspect it before challenging it in a higher court.
