In a shocking expose by news channel NDTV, accused in the Hapur and Alwar lynchings can be seen bragging on camera about how they killed one and are ready to kill more.
New Delhi, August 7: The Supreme Court last month come down heavily on the state and central government over increasing cases of mob lynchings and cow vigilantism. However, it seems the cow vigilantes remain undeterred and mobocracy continues. In a shocking expose by news channel NDTV, accused in the Hapur and Alwar lynchings can be seen bragging on camera about how they killed one and are ready to kill more. "They slaughter cows, we kill them," an accused can be seen saying on hidden camera.
Saurabh Shukla, a reporter of NDTV, travelled to Hapur and Alwar, as a researcher doing a study on the RSS, and spoke the accused in the two lynching cases, who are out on bail.
In Hapur, 45-year-old Qasim, was beaten to death by a mob in Pilkhuwa village in June this year on suspicion of cattle theft. His 65-year-old friend Samiuddin was severely injured. Four of the nine accused in the case are out on bail. One of the accused on bail can be heard on camera saying, "Haan maine bola ki wo gaaye kaat rahe they, maine usko kaat diya... jailer ke saamne (I told the jailer that they [the victims] were slaughtering cows so I slaughtered them)." He goes on to say that he will kill thousands more if they slaughter cows and adds that it is because of the current state government that he could do it. "Police paksh me hai aur ye sab raha sarkaar kaa dum. Warna police paksh me nai rahti agar Azam Khan baithaa huaa rahta (The police is on our side because of the government. Otherwise, nothing would've happened if Azam Khan was in power)," he said.
In Alwar, Pehlu Khan was lynched by a mob in April 2017, on suspicion of transporting cows for slaughter. All the nine accused in this case are out on bail. One of these accused was caught on the hidden camera as saying, "Haan humlog1.5 ghante tak pitate rahe ... pehle 10 aadmi aaye phir 20 aadmi aaye waha karib 500 log akatrit ho gaye (We kept beating him up for 1.5 hours. First there were 10 people then the crowd swelled)."

The chilling expose is going viral on the social media with people expressing shock and anger over the state of law and order. The central government had earlier last month said that it was mulling on a separate law to deal with the crime of lynching. The demand for such a law has gone louder after the sting operation by the news channel.
