Peeping Tom in Chennai Killed: Mob Nabs Man Suspected of Peeping Into Washrooms Used by Women, Thrashes Him to Death

A 28-year-old man died in hospital on Wednesday after he was brutally thrashed by a mob which suspected him of peeping into a bathroom used by women in Chennai. The incident occurred on May 25 and police has arrested seven people in connection with the incident.

Chennai, May 29: A 28-year-old man died in hospital on Wednesday after he was brutally thrashed by a mob which suspected him of peeping into washrooms used by women in Chennai. The incident occurred on May 25 and police has arrested seven people in connection with the incident who have been identified as Ethiraj, 30; Sanjay, 23; Dinesh Kumar, 23; Venkatachalam, 34; Manikandan, 19; Nithish, 18; and Dayanidhi, 19.

According to a report in TOI, the deceased, identified as Parasuraman, was a native of a village in Tiruvannamalai district and resided in Varanavasi, Kancheepuram district. He worked at a factory in Oragadam. A woman mistook Parasuraman for a thief and raised an alarm. Local youngsters quickly responded, apprehending and assaulting him. The police were alerted and officers from Oragadam police station arrived to rescue Parasuraman. Following his death, the police altered the case to that of murder and arrested seven individuals: Ethiraj, 30; Sanjay, 23; Dinesh Kumar, 23; Venkatachalam, 34; Manikandan, 19; Nithish, 18; and Dayanidhi, 19. They have been charged under relevant sections of the law.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, with particular attention to claims that Parasuraman may have taken photos or videos through the window. “All these aspects will be investigated,” a police officer stated.
