Patna, December 12: One elderly woman was killed and two others, including a minor, were left critically injured as a girl learning to drive rammed an SUV into several people in broad daylight. The injured victims are currently being treated at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). A complaint has been lodged against the unidentified driver and her associate.

The incident occurred at around 1:30pm at Nayachak Mohalla in Khemnichak area. The girl was learning how to drive, and was accompanied by a male associate. Eye-witnesses claim she lost control over the car and rammed it into several people gathered in an open ground to absorb sunlight. Maharashtra: 9 killed, 6 Hurt in Passenger Vehicle-Truck Collision in Yavatmal.

The deceased woman, aged 60, has been identified as Geeta Devi. The two others injured are: 32-year-old Ruby Devi and 4-year-old minor Sapna Kumari.

An FIR was registered at the Ram Krishna police station, based on the statements of Ajay Kumar, the son-in-law of deceased Geeta Devi. Station House Office Sunil Kumar Sharma has initiated probe into the incident.

The SUV was abandoned by the accused after the accident, before fleeing from the spot, said Singh. The SHO further claimed that the police has launched the process of identifying the car owner. A search operation has also been launched for the girl and her associate, based on the inputs provided by the complainant.
