Paresh Rawal Apologises to Dr Kafeel Khan For 2017 Tweet Over Gorakhpur Hospital Tragedy, Says 'There is No Shame in Apologising'

Paresh Rawal on Wednesday apologised to Dr Kafeel Khan, the Gorakhpur doctor was charged in the BRD Medical College tragedy which led to the death of over 60 children. After Khan was cleared of all charges of negligence, the BJP leader took to Twitter and said, "There is no shame in apologising when one is wrong ... I apologise to Dr Kafeel Khan."

New Delhi, October 2: Former Lok Sabha MP and Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal on Wednesday apologised to Dr Kafeel Khan, the Gorakhpur doctor was charged in the BRD Medical College tragedy which led to the death of over 60 children. After Khan was cleared of all charges of negligence, the BJP leader took to Twitter and said, "There is no shame in apologising when one is wrong ... I apologise to Dr Kafeel Khan." Dr Khan reverted to Paresh Rawal’s tweet and said, “Thank you @SirPareshRawal sir I really appreciate that It was something that hit me hard. We should also be sorry to those 70 parents who lost their kids in #BRDoxygenTragedy.”

In August 2017, more than 60 children died in a week at Baba Raghav Das Medical College. Nearly two years after the incident, a government inquiry cleared paediatrician Dr Kafeel Khan of any negligence last week. Meanwhile, his suspension is yet to be revoked.

The 2017 Gorakhpur tragedy saw the death of over 60 children, mostly infants, allegedly due to disruption in oxygen supply. However, the state government said that the kids died due to different illness, including encephalitis.
