Surat, May 3: In a shocking incident, a man and his daughter were killed when a parcel bomb exploded at their residence in Gujarat's Vadali on Thursday, May 2. The parcel was allegedly sent by a man who was reportedly involved with the deceased man's wife, according to local police.
As per the NDTV report, the victims have been identified as 32-year-old labourer Jeetubhai Heerabhai Vanjara and his 12-year-old daughter Bhumika. Jeetubhai was killed instantly in the explosion, while Bhumika succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital. Jeetubhai's wife was not at home at the time of the incident. Wife's Lover Sends Parcel Bomb to Her Husband
The suspect, 31-year-old Jayantibhai Balusingh Vanjara, is believed to have sent the parcel, disguised as a tape recorder, to Jeetubhai's house via an auto-rickshaw. The device detonated when Jeetubhai attempted to plug it in. According to Senior Police Officer Vijay Patel, Jayantibhai had travelled to Rajasthan to procure the materials needed to construct the improvised explosive device, which included gelatin sticks and a detonator. The device was designed to explode upon being plugged in.
Accused Arrested
The auto-rickshaw driver who delivered the parcel was identified through CCTV footage. Based on the driver's statement, police teams were formed to apprehend Jayantibhai, who was arrested a few hours after the explosion. The investigation revealed that Jayantibhai had sent the parcel with the intention of killing Jeetubhai, reportedly upset over his former girlfriend's marriage to Jeetubhai. Jeetubhai's two other daughters, aged 9 and 10, also sustained severe injuries to their eyes and chest in the explosion. They are currently receiving treatment in the hospital, with one of them on ventilator support.
