Parakram Parv 2018 Schedule: Details of Three-Day Celebration of 2016 Surgical Strike From September 28 to 30

The Narendra Modi government has announced a three-day Parakram Parv celebration across the country to observe the Surgical Strike Day.

New Delhi, September 27: The Narendra Modi government has announced a three-day Parakram Parv celebration across the country to observe the Surgical Strike Day. The Parakram Parv will begin on September 28 and will go on till September 30. Apart from India Gate, celebrations will also take place at 53 other locations in 51 cities across India. The government has appealed to people to come out in large numbers and share selfies of themselves at the event venue from their city on the social media with the hashtag of Parakram Parv. Surgical Strikes Second Anniversary: Navy Plans 2-day Event Starts from September 29 in Mumbai and Goa

Here is the schedule of the three-day celebration announced by the Government to commemorate the September 29, 2016, Indian Army operation to kill terrorists in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

On Friday, September 28, 2018, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit India Gate lawns, New Delhi to commemorate the inauguration of ‘Parakram Parv’ and will also interact with children. The programme will start with bugle call at 6:30 pm, following which movies and photographs depicting the valour and courage of the Armed Forces will be shown. Letters addressed to soldiers by school children will also be on the display.

The event is open from 11 am to 10 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Captured weapons used by terrorists that have been brought from Jammu & Kashmir will also be put on display. Military equipment like artillery guns and small arms will also be on display.

On September 29 and 30, noted singers are scheduled to perform at the venue apart from the Military band.

Song composed to celebrate surgical strike

Meanwhile, singer-composer Kailash Kher and lyricist Prasoon Joshi have joined hands for a song on India's cross-border surgical strikes of 2016. The anthem will be played on radio stations and will be available online too.

"I have composed and sung the song 'Mera desh meri jaan hai'. It is a surgical strikes anthem written by Prasoon Joshi. This is the Indian government celebrating the second year of surgical strikes. It is to celebrate the spirit of our soldiers," Kher said.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also issued a circular to the vice-chancellors of all universities providing a list of activities which may be undertaken to celebrate the 'Surgical Strike Day'. The prescribed events by the University Grants Commission for the celebration include talk sessions by ex-servicemen about sacrifices by the armed forces, special parades by NCC and visit exhibitions among other events.

On September 29, 2016, the Indian Army carried out "surgical strikes" on seven terrorist launch pads across the LoC in Pakistani Kashmir in response to an attack on its base in Jammu and Kashmir.
