New Delhi, Sep 28: To mark two years of surgical strikes conducted by the armed forces against terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated Parakram Parv exhibition at the military station in Jodhpur. The government has announced a three-day celebration - Parakram Parv - to mark surgical strikes day. In the national capital, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit India Gate lawns to commemorate the inauguration of Parakram Parv. The event, which will start with bugle call, will show movies and photographs depicting the bravery and courage of the armed forces.
At Parakram Parv exhibition, weapons seized from terrorists and military equipment like artillery guns and small arms will be put on display. The event is open from 11 am to 10 pm on Saturday (September 29) and Sunday (September 30). Military band and noted singers will also perform. Apart from India Gate, celebrations will also take place at 53 other locations in 51 cities across India. Earlier today, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated Parakram Parv exhibition in Jodhpur and attended the Combined Commanders Conference. He paid homage to martyrs at Konark War Memorial. In the visitor's book, the Prime Minister wrote that the country is proud of the armed forces who are dedicated and committed to protecting the Motherland.
On September 29, 2016, the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes on seven terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) as a response to an attack on its base in Uri earlier that month. The Army had said its special forces inflicted “significant casualties” on terrorists waiting there to cross into Indian territory.
