Panipat, October 4: In a tragic incident, an infant was allegedly choked to death after a small ball got stuck in his throat. Reports inform that the incident took place in Haryana’s Panipat when the seven-month-old infant lost his life while playing with a small ball. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the deceased has been identified as Mohit. The infant lived with his mother Kavita at his maternal grandfather’s house in Purewal colony of the city.
Reports inform that the fatal incident took place when the boy was playing with a ball and it suddenly got stuck in his throat. The terrified mother took the infant to many hospitals in the city but the doctors were unable to remove the ball from her baby's throat. The mother then took the child to a private clinic where he died during the treatment. Meanwhile, family members informed that the shocked by the incident, the infant’s grandfather later died of a heart stroke at his house. Earlier this month, a one and half-year-old infant identified as Rahul lost his life after he fell in 200 feet deep borewell. A report by the United Nations Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation (UNIGME) inform that three infants die every two minutes on an average in India. These deaths are caused due to lack of access to water, sanitation, proper nutrition or basic health services. The report informs that in 2017, about 8,02,000 infant deaths were reported in India.
