Kolkata, May 7: The officials of Belakoba forest range and North Bengal Task Force jointly seized one Pangolin from Kalijhora on Tuesday and arrested five people who belong to Sikkim in connection with the trafficking and smuggling of Pangolin. According to news agency ANI, the traffickers were going to smuggle the Pangolin to Bhutan.
The officials tweeted an image of the Pangolin which was about to be trafficked by the arrested people.

According to a report by the National Geographic, Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal in the world. The lizard like looking Pangolin, is believed to have medicinal value. There are eight species of the Pangolin, all of which are found in Tropical Asia. The Pangolins are mostly trafficked to Bhutan and China, where they are in great demand.
