Pallavi Joshi, TV Actress, Loses Rs 12,000 to Credit Card Fraud, Police Say Transactions Done by Fraudsters in Europe
Pallavi Joshi, who is the latest victim of credit card fraud, informed that her account details were stolen and used for transactions worth Rs 12,000 in Europe. Joshi, had her credit card in her possession on July 5, when the offence took place.
Mumbai, July 10: In a recent case of online fraud, film and television actor Pallavi Joshi lost Rs 12,000 after she found out that unauthorised transactions were done on her credit card in the last week. Joshi, who is the latest victim of credit card fraud, informed Police that her account details were stolen and used for transactions worth Rs 12,000 in Europe. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the actress, who lives at Seven Bungalows in Andheri (West), lodged a FIR with the Versova police on Saturday. Joshi said she received five to six SMS alerts one after another and the amount and the amount was deducted in Euros. She informed that unauthorised transactions worth Rs 12,000 were done on her credit card. “I received five to six SMS alerts one after another. The amount deducted was in euros. As soon as the incident was reported, Police launched an investigation into the matter. After a preliminary probe, it was found that the fraudsters used Joshi's card’s details to make payments for taxi trips in Europe. Ravindra Badgujar, senior inspector of Versova police station was quoted in the report saying that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act against unknown suspects.
