Maharashtra: Portion of 4-Storey Building Collapses in Palghar's Virar; Rescue Operations Underway

In a tragic incident, a four-storey building collapsed in Virar area of Maharashtra’s Palghar district. Till now, there are no reports of any casualties. However, several people are feared to be trapped under the debris.

Palghar, October 15: In a tragic incident, a four-storey building collapsed in Virar area of Maharashtra’s Palghar district late on Tuesday evening. So far, preliminary reports claim that one girl has been killed in the incident. Also, several people are feared to be trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are underway at the collapse site. The building, named Nityanand Dham, was illegally constructed, reported India Today. Municipal Corporation officials have also reached the spot. More details are still awaited.

Last month also, a four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai's Crawford Market area. The incident took place at Lokmanya Tilak Road in South Bombay region. As soon as the incident was reported, seven fire brigade vehicles were pressed into service. No casualty was reported in the collapse.
