Boisar, January 11: Five people died in a major fire that broke out after a huge explosion that took place in a chemical factory at Boisar in Maharashtra's Palghar on Saturday evening, reported news agency ANI. Six people were also injured in the incident. The factory is situated at Kolwade village and the explosion took place around 7 pm. Following the incident, fighter tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the blaze. The Boisar MIDC Fire Brigade, Tarapur Atomic Power Station fire brigade worked together in controlling the fire. Mumbai Fire: 84 Saved from Burning MTNL Building in Bandra.

Those who have wounded have been admitted to nearby hospitals. The company is located in Tarapur chemical zone. The firm manufactures Ammonium Nitrate. According to reports, production in the unit was going on when the incident took place.
