Pakistani Intruder Apprehended by BSF Near Amritsar Border Post, Arms Seized

A Pakistani national was apprehended on Sunday by Border Security Force (BSF) at Border Out Post (BOP) Rania in Amritsar. One US made rifle, two magazines and 28 live rounds were recovered from him.

Amritsar, November 5: A Pakistani national was apprehended on Sunday by Border Security Force (BSF) at Border Out Post (BOP) Rania in Amritsar. One US made rifle, two magazines and 28 live rounds were recovered from him. In further search, the BSF also seized three packets of heroin within 100 metres of the International Border. The identity of the Pakistani national held by the BSF has not been revealed yet.

On October 28, two Pakistani Nationals were arrested near the BOP Punjab’s Ferozpur. The arrested Pakistani nationals belong to the Baloch Regiment of the Pakistan Army. The Pakistan army soldiers arrested near the BOP, Ferozepur are identified as Siraj Ahmed (31) and Mumtaz Khan (38). The security forces also recovered Rs 3,660, a mobile phone and a SIM card from Mumtaz and two Pakistani army ID cards, four photographs, a smartphone, and Rs 1,040 from Ahmed.

Earlier in April, The Punjab Police's Counter-Intelligence wing arrested four men, allegedly trained by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), who were planning to highlight the Khalistan issue in IPL matches to be held in Mohali. The men were allegedly trained by an Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent through social media to disturb communal harmony in the state.

Recently, Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat while addressing a seminar in Delhi on 'Changing Contours of Internal Security in India: Trends and Responses' said that external linkages are trying to revive "revive separatism" in Punjab. On August 12, hundreds of people had turned out at Trafalgar Square in London in support of a pro-Khalistan rally.
