Rajouri, December 26: A civilian was killed in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand said, "At around 12 p.m today, the Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked firing in Nowshera Sector resulting in critical injuries to a civilian, Bodhraj, aged about 55 years, a resident of Deeing in Nowshera Tehsil.” India, Pakistan DGMOs Agree to Implement 2003 Ceasefire Agreement Over Hotline Contact.

Bodhraj was immediately evacuated to a hospital, but later he succumbed to his injuries. Indian troops have befitting reply to Pakistan. The Defence Ministry spokesperson assured of all possible help to the family of the deceased.

On December 24 also, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Keri and Pukherni sectors of Rajouri district. Due to ceasefire violation, schools have closed in the area. Meanwhile, on December 21, two Indian army jawans lost their lives in an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops across the LoC in Keran sector of Kupwara district. The martyred soldiers were junior commissioned officers (JCO) in the army. The JCO’s were identified as Subedar Gamar Thapa and Subedar Raman Thapa.
