'Pakistan Violated Ceasefire 1,248 Times in Past Six Months,' Says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Rajya Sabha
"A total of 1248 ceasefire violations by Pakistan were reported in the last six months along the LoC," said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh while replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha. Singh further added that four Indian jawans lost their lives in the violations.
New Delhi, July 1: In the past six months, a total of 1248 ceasefire violations were done by Pakistan. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh while replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha said, “1248 ceasefire violations done by Pakistan in last six months along the Line of Control (LoC) and four Indian jawans lost their lives in the violations.” Seven Pakistan Posts Destroyed as Indian Army Retaliates to Ceasefire Violations.
Meanwhile, in 2018, Pakistan had violated ceasefire 2,936 times in Jammu and Kashmir. It was highest in the past 15 years with an average of eight cases daily. According to reports, 61 people were killed and over 250 injured in 2018 in the ceasefire violations. However, in 2017, the ceasefire violations were three times lesser as compared to 2018. That year, only 971 cases of ceasefire violation by Pakistan were reported.
Last week, Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy while replying to a question in the Lok Sabha revealed that a total 773 terrorist were killed in Jammu and Kashmir since 2016. Reddy also added that this year till June 16, a total of 113 terrorists were killed in the state. Meanwhile, 18 civilians were also lost their lives in various terror-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, in 2017, 257 terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir.
