Jammu, October 27: Army Chief Bipin Rawat on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Pakistan over its terror activities and stated that Pakistan is fully aware they can never succeed in disrupting the peace and harmony in Kashmir. Rawat said terror is another way by Pakistan to keep the pot boiling. "Pakistan wants to stall development in Kashmir but the state is strong enough to counter everything", the Army Chief said, adding that, India is fully capable of carrying out different operations when need be.

Rawat also spoke about Sepoy Rajendra Singh, an Army jawan who died at a hospital on Friday after sustaining head injuries during stone-pelting by a group of youths. The Army Chief said the jawan who lost his life on Friday was guarding a border roads team which was constructing roads. "Jawan who lost his life was guarding a border roads team which was constructing roads, and then we have some ppl saying don't treat stone pelters like OGWs(over ground workers) of terrorists", Rawat was quoted by ANI.

An Army official was quoted by PTI saying that Sepoy Rajendra Singh was part of a quick reaction team which was providing security to a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) convoy on Thursday. "At around 1800 hrs, when the convoy was passing through the Anantnag bypass tri-junction near NH-44, few youths hurled stones at the vehicle and Singh was injured after being hit by a stone directly on the head," the official added.
