Islamabad, August 20: Days after Pakistan was "snubbed" at the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) informal meeting over India’s move to scrap special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the Imran Khan government has now decided to move International Court of Justice (ICJ), reported Pakistan media. Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday reportedly made an announcement regarding its government’s future course of action over the Kashmir issue. Article 370 Revoked: Pakistan Seeks Emergency Meeting of UNSC Over Jammu and Kashmir.

On August 14, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan reached out to the United States President Donald Trump. Khan alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir during his conversation with Trump. Islamabad’s all-weather ally China had also called an emergency meeting of the UNSC to discuss India's move to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. However, the UNSC suggested a "bilateral" solution for resolving the territorial dispute.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to the United States (US) President Donald Trump over the phone amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of creating an environment free from terror and violence and eschewing cross-border terrorism without exception.

The Modi government on August 5, crapped provisions of Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The state was divided into two union territories - Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
