Pakistan Summons Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria After Resolution to Revoke Article 370 Introduced in Rajya Sabha

Pakistani Foreign Secretary on Monday summoned Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria after resolution to revoke Article 370 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. Pakistan termed the Narendra Government’s move as “illegal”.

Islamabad, August 5: Pakistani Foreign Secretary on Monday summoned Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria after resolution to revoke Article 370 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. Pakistan termed the Narendra Modi Government’s move as “illegal”. In a statement by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan claimed its right on the issue calling itself "party to the international dispute." "As the party to this international dispute, Pakistan will exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps. Pakistan reaffirms its abiding commitment to the Kashmir cause," read Pakistan's statement. The Office of President of Pakistan Also Tweeted on Abrogation of Article 370. "Pakistan supports & insists on a peaceful resolution based on wishes of Kashmiri people & stands with them in their hour of need," read part of the tweet. Article 370 Revocation: 8,000 More Troops Sent to Jammu and Kashmir, Army and Air Force on High Alert.

Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the resolution in the Rajya Sabha for abolishing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir giving special status to the state. The Centre also revoked Article 35A by issuing Presidential order. Jammu Kashmir was also bifurcated into two union territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in its order on Monday, also asked all states and union territories to ensure the safety of residents of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, a high alert has been sounded in all the states.
