Pakistan Extends Aerospace Ban For India Till June 14, International Flights to Continue to Cost More For Indians

Islamabad/New Delhi, May 29: With relations between India and Pakistan still in a waiting period to improve, Pakistan's latest step to extend the closure of their aerospace for India till June 14 has hit a roadblock on Wednesday. Due to the decision by the Pakistani government, the stand-off between the arch-rivals has extended further and relation-repair management might suffer in the coming times.

Earlier in February, Pakistan had closed its aerospace for India - which was effective till May end - following the Pulawama terror attack in India and Balakot airstrike in Pakistan. Due to these two major incidents, the tiff between the two nations escalated, which further worsened the deteriorated relations between two 'friendly' nations. Pakistan to Continue Ban on Indian Flights Till May 30 Due to Counting of Votes for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in India.

As a result of the aerospace closure, the routes for Indian flights to Gulf countries, Russia and some European countries had to be diverted, which increased both the travel time and price of travel. Informing about the latest development, a spokesperson for Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority told Reuters, "The closure will continue until June 14."

It is to be known that Pakistan opened its airspace for all flights except for New Delhi, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur on March 27. With the increase of aerospace closure, impact on hundreds of commercial and cargo flights are taking place every single day.
