New Delhi, January 25: The central government today announced names of the Padma awardees 2019 on the eve of the 70th Republic Day. President Ram Nath Kovind will confer Padma Shri to 94 people including veteran actor Kader Khan (posthumously), actor Manoj Bajpayee, footballer Sunil Chhetri, choreographer/director Prabhu Deva, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, singer Shankar Mahadevan and freestyle wrestler Bajrang Punia. Pranab Mukherjee To be Conferred With Bharat Ratna Along With Nanaji Deshmukh and Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

Former Aam Aadmi Party leader and senior advocate Harvinder Singh Phoolka, Shadab Mohammad, Kabaddi player Ajay Thakur, Former Indian foreign secretary Dr S Jaishankar, and basketball player Prashanti Singh will also be conferred with Padma Shri. Meanwhile, the second civilian award, Padma Vibhushan will be given to four people including Teejan Bai, an exponent of Pandavani, a traditional performing art.  Other Padma Vishushan Awardees are Shri Ismail Omar Guelleh (Foreigner) Shri Anilkumar Manibhai Naik and Shri Balwant Moreshwar Purandare. Nanaji Deshmukh Conferred Country’s Highest Civilian Award Bharat Ratna Posthumously, Know More About the Leader Who Served Rural India.

Mountaineer Bachendri Pal is among the 14 who received the third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan. Akali leader Sukhpal Singh Dhindsa, Mahashay Dharam Pal Gulati and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kariya Munda also get Padma Bhushan award. Journalist Kuldip Nayyar also conferred with the country’s third highest civilian award posthumously.
