New Delhi, August 22: In a dramatic turn of events, the former Finance Minister was arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and brought to the CBI complex in the in INX media case on Wednesday evening. Reportedly, the CBI complex was built at a cost of Rs. 186 crore by National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited. The 11-storey building houses all branches of the premier investigating agency under one roof. ANI has shared a video, which shows both the leaders attending the inauguration ceremony of the new CBI headquarters.

Flanked by senior Supreme Court lawyers and party colleagues Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Chidambaram drove to his residence nearly 10 minutes away from the Congress office on Wednesday. CBI officers then entered Chidambaram's residence by jumping from the wall amid high chaos.

Chidambaram was first taken into custody from his Jor Bagh residence. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former P Chidambaram in the INX media scam case. After his arrest, doctors from the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital conducted medical examination on him at the CBI headquarters.
Karti Chidambaram, the arrested Congress leader's son said that all the drama that has unfolded is because the present government wants to divert the attention from the issue of Article 370. The CBI will present Chidambaram before the Rouse Avenue on Thursday and demand his remand.
