Panaji, January 1: For the first time in the last four months, ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday met his cabinet colleagues and officials at the state secretariat in Porvorim in Goa. On the first day of 2019, Parrikar made a surprise visit to the State Secretariat and was received by Ministers, party MLAs and several BJP workers. Parrikar was accompanied by a team of medical professionals and officials from the Chief Minister's Office.  Ailing Goa CM Manohar Parrikar Makes Rare Public Appearance, Inspects 2 Under-Construction Bridges. 

Reports inform that when the ailing chief minister arrived at the State Secretariat early today, he got down from his car and smiled at people, and walked inside. Scores of BJP workers who had gathered outside the complex cheered when Parrikar arrived. This is Parrikar's second appearance in public in the last few months, since his visit to an under-construction bridge near Panaji last month.

Since his return from Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in October last year, this is the 63-year-old Chief Minister's first visit to the Secretariat. On December 16, Parrikar had made a surprise visit to two projects – one in Panaji, and the other at the new Zuari bridge in south Goa.

Parrikar had last attended the office in August 2018, before he was shifted to Mumbai for treatment. According to reports, since his discharge from AIIMS, Parrikar has been recuperating at his private residence at Dona Paula near Panaji.
