New Delhi, February 23: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Saturday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his words on violence against Kashmiris at a public rally in Rajasthan's Tonk. "Thank you @narendramodi Sahib. Aaj aap ne hamaray dil ki baat keh di (You Conveyed Feeling of Our Heart). It’s been more than a week since the terrible attack in Pulwama & more than a week that Kashmiris have been bearing the brunt of the public anger. Abdullah's reaction came after PM Modi in a rally, earlier today said that "Our fight is against terrorism and the enemies of humanity. Our fight is for Kashmir and not against the people of Kashmir." Kashmiri Students Thrashed, Forced to Chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'.

Condemning the harsh attacks on Kashmiri students and professionals working outside Kashmir, he said, "What happened a few days ago, whether the incident was big or small and what happened with Kashmiri students in various parts of India....this is not the matter. The matter is it should not have happened."

Earlier, Omar Abdullah had targeted PM Modi and the opposition Indian National Congress for not speaking against attacks on Kashmiris. "We didn't have much expectation from the BJP but we had expectations from the prime minister. We had hoped he would keep politics aside and say something," he said in a press conference.
