Mumbai, October 25: The strike called by the drivers of cab aggregators Ola and Uber in Mumbai entered fourth day on Thursday. At least 90 per cent of Ola and Uber drivers are off the road demanding a hike in ride fares with respect to high fuel prices in the state. Commuters have been facing a hard time trying to book cabs over the past three days, especially those commuting to and from the airport and office-goers. Ola, Uber Drivers Protest in Mumbai, Demand Hike in Fares Over Increase in Fuel Rates.

Commuters who are trying to book cabs are facing a waiting time of 18-25 minutes to find one. However, commuters are being able to book Ola autos. Commuters have also taken to booking autorickshaws and local 'kaali peeli' taxis.

Sunil Borkar, leader of the app-based cab drivers’ union as quoted in the report, said, “Both the companies had given big assurances to drivers, but have failed to make good the promises. The drivers have not been able to recover their losses. The drivers had invested Rs 5-7 lakh and were expecting to make Rs 1 lakh a month. But drivers are unable to make even half of this because of the mismanagement by these companies."

The strike has, however, led to lesser traffic on Mumbai roads that are usually packed during the peak hours.
