Mumbai, November 20: About 15-20 protesters squatted on railway tracks at Dadar railway station on Mumbai's Western Line on Tuesday morning. The agitators, who protested for the Ola and Uber drivers, staged a protest on rail tracks for about ten minutes. The protest led to halting of several trains on the Western Line during the peak hours on Tuesday, thus causing inconvenience to thousands of commuters.
The drivers of Ola and Uber had gone on a 12-day strike in October over lower earnings due to fuel price hike. According to a report by TOI, the train services were restored back to normalcy within some time. The report states that the Maharashtra Rajya Rashtriya Kamgar Sangh which had called a strike of Ola and Uber Drivers lately said they had nothing to do with the Western Railway agitation on tracks. Reports inform that the strike by Ola and Uber drivers' was called off on November 3 after the assurances from the aggregators and the state administration that the cab aggregators would prepare a new fare chart on the price-per-km basis by mid-November, which will take into consideration the rising fuel prices. On Monday, the drivers of cab aggregators Ola and Uber had called off their strike on the assurance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. NCP leader Dhananjay Munde called on the chief minister demanding the latter's intervention into the matter. According to a PTI report, Munde said that the driver partners, who went on a strike from Sunday, called it off after a positive response from the Chief Minister.
