Odisha: Woman Allegedly Suffers Heart Attack After Losing Minor Son to Snakebite in Sundargarh District, Dies
A 36-year-old woman in Rourkela, Sundargarh district, died of a suspected heart attack hours after losing her six-year-old son to a snakebite.
Sundargarh, April 28: A 36-year-old woman allegedly suffered a heart attack and passed away just hours after losing her minor son to a snakebite. The incident occurred in Dengurpani village in Rajgangpur on Friday, April 26. Identified as Sukanti Kujur, the woman's six-year-old son Gyandeep was playing near their house when he was bitten by a poisonous snake around 5 pm.
As per a report by The New Indian Express, despite attempts by his father, identified as Amit, to treat him with traditional remedies at home, the young boy's condition worsened rapidly. Overwhelmed by grief and unable to cope with the loss, Sukanti, lost her consciousness and collapsed. As Gyandeep's health deteriorated, the family rushed him to the Rajgangpur community health centre, where he tragically passed away around 8 pm. Subsequently, Sukanti was also brought to the CHC, but doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival, as per the report. Rajgangpur SDPO Abhishek Panigrahi confirmed the registration of two separate unnatural death cases, suspecting that Sukanti succumbed to a heart attack induced by the overwhelming grief of losing her son. Similarly, earlier this year in February, a 50-year-old man named Premnath Barabhaya succumbed to a heart attack allegedly triggered by loud music during the immersion of a Saraswati idol in Rourkela, Odisha. The DJ responsible for the music has been detained by authorities. Barabhaya was immediately rushed to the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH), where medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival.
