Odisha: Son Smashes Mother’s Head With Stone in Malkangiri District, Sets Her on Fire After a Fight

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the man allegedly set his 55-year-old mother on Friday evening in Malkangiri district. The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Tapas Mandal, a Bengali man.

Puri, January 5: In a shocking incident, a woman in Odisha was brutally smashed in her head with a stone and was burnt to death by her son. According to reports, the horrific incident took place after the mother-son duo got into a quarrel and in a fit of rage set his mother ablaze. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the man allegedly set his 55-year-old mother on Friday evening in Malkangiri district. According to the report, Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena said that Tapas Mandal had an altercation with his mother Gita Mandal in MPV-55 village under Motu police station area after which he smashed her head with a stone. The woman succumbed to her injuries and died immediately. As soon as the incident was reported, Police reached the spot. The bones and ashes of the burnt body were later recovered from the spot. According to details by Police, Tapas was an alcohol addict and abused his family members regularly after getting drunk. The HT report informs that Tapan’s wife had recently left him due to his behaviour. Police inform that the accused is absconding, and search is underway to nab him.
