Bhubaneswar, January 17: In a most shocking incident against humanity, a young person was forced to carry his mother’s body in a cycle, after being denied help to cremate her in a village in Odisha. Reason – he belonged to a lower caste.
The inhuman incident took place with Saroj who carried his dead mother Janki Sinhania's corpse on his the cycle, through the crumbling lane leading to the cremation ground in Karpabahal – a village in Odisha. Odisha Rape Shocker: Man Watches Wife Being Raped After He Loses a Gambling Match!
The report, published by India Today, also says that after being denied help, the 17-year-old boy carried his mother’s corpse in the gravel-driven road on his bicycle for four to five kilometres in the makeshift bunk. When he reached the village, forget about being helped by neighbours, he found the doors shut on his face.
Pushing the cycle with all the energy left, while scraping his own feet against the loose gravel, young Saroj had no option but to carry her mother’s corpse on the back where once she might have ridden pillion. Denied a burial ground, Saroj buried his mother in a forest nearby.
According to the report, Janki Sinhania (45) died when she went to fetch water and flee on the ground. Sinhania used to stay with her son and daughter in her ancestral village after her husband died.
This is not the first incident in Odisha, a few day ago, a father was forced to carry his daughter body on a tricycle, after the free government vehicle failed to arrive on time. Also, reports of a tribal man walking nearly 10 kilometres with his daughter, carrying his wife's body on his shoulder after being denied a mortuary van from a government hospital are still fresh.
The tall claims of the Odisha government of providing adequate medical facilities to the people of the state fall flat, with the reports of medical apathy coming to the fore frequently. Hope this will not be repeated in the coming times.
