Puri, August 25: Bhubaneswar police on Thursday cracked a murder case of a minor girl. The police said that the decomposed body of a girl, discovered in the Nandan Vihar locality two weeks ago, was the victim of her own uncle. The 29-year-old accused, Sukhlal Soy, was arrested. According to reports, Sukhlal Soy reportedly smacked his niece's head forcefully with a wooden bar on August 9 when the minor girl refused to share her earnings with him, leading to her death. According to a New Indian Express report, the 13-year-old girl's parents were separated, leaving her without proper guardianship. To support herself, she took on the role of a domestic worker within the Nandan Vihar Housing Board Colony, working hard to meet her needs. According to the preliminary findings of the police investigation, it appears that Sukhlal desired her to reside in his residence and give him a share of her earnings in return for accommodation. The reports said that the police said the accused struck the minor girl's head with a wooden log, leaving her bleeding to death. Afterwards, Sukhlal, with the assistance of his accomplice Narendra Singh, who had also been arrested as well, disposed of the victim's body on the very same night. The police officials confiscated the wooden log used as a murder weapon. The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
