Bhubaneswar, October 3: In a bizarre incident, six men in Odisha were  tortured and forced to consume human excreta by locals of a village on suspicion of practicing witchcraft. According to a tweet by ANI, the local of Ganjam village also pulled out the teeth of the men. In the wake of the incident, SP Ganjam said that 29 people have been arrested in connection with the matter. Patrolling intensified to nab the remaining accused and avert any untoward incidents."

The incident was reported in Goparpur village where a group of people dragged the six men out of their houses and harassed them alleging that their witchcraft led to the deaths of three women. According to a report by TOI, 29 people, including 22 women, were arrested on Tuesday night in connection with the crime. Jharkhand Horror: Mother-Daughter Killed Over Witchcraft Allegation in West Singhbhum District.

The reports further informs that the the six men are all above 60 years of age. Soon after the incident, they were taken to a local hospital. The after the crime was committed on Tuesday afternoon. From there, they were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here. Their condition is stated to be stable.

According to reports, Police informed that the the accused locals held a meeting in the village before deciding to attack the six men. The locals attacked the men for the deaths of three women and the illness of seven others over the past six months. The report further adds that stones were used to pull out and break the teeth of the six men.
