Puri, October 27: In a tragic incident, seven elephants were found dead in a village in Odisha on Saturday morning after being electrocuted. According to a tweet by ANI, the gruesome incident took place when the elephants came in contact with a live wire near Kamalanga village in Dhenkanal district of Odisha. Locals were shocked to see the elephants lying dead in the fields. Soon after the incident came to light, the forest and wildlife department officials were called to take a stock of the situation. An investigation into the matter has begun.

The forest department official informed that the elephant was released into the forest nearly two years after being captured. According to a PTI report, the police said they had seized the private bus involved in the accident that occurred near the hilly Madikeri area. Elephant Dies After Being Hit by Bus in Karnataka.
In the last month, a similar incident was reported from Odisha where an elephant was electrocuted on the outskirts of Uparjhar village under Deogaon block. According to reports, the elephant came in contact with a low-hanging live wire.
