Bhubaneshwar, October 17: A 30-year-old youth mysteriously disappeared  after boarding a flight from UAE. Ranjan Swain who hails from Khurda district in Odisha reportedly has been missing since August this year. He was working at a private company in Abu Dhabi and was the sole breadwinner of his family. Ranjan's father and sister, who are still frantically searching for him, suspect foul play. The family claimed they received phone calls from unidentified persons who demanded money and threatened to kill Ranjan. The family suspects the individuals who made the phone calls might be responsible for the abduction.

According to Ranjan's father, Akshay Swain, his son was supposed to return to Delhi via Mumbai along with his colleague on August 17.  When Ranjan did not turn up at his house on August 25, the family got anxious and reached out to an NGO, Global Odia Volunteer for help. The NGO contacted Indian Embassy in UAE and the firm in Abu Dhabi where Ranjan worked who confirmed that he had boarded the flight on August 18.Uttar Pradesh Horror: Six Transgenders Kidnap Man, Chop His Private Parts in Aligarh.

The grief-stricken sister Ranjita told the media outlet that she spoke with her brother last on August 17, during the phone call Ranjan had shared his ticket details with her. "He told me that he wanted to permanently return to India", said his sister. The sister also contacted Ranjan's companion who accompanied the victim in the flight but she was informed that the duo parted ways at the airport. Muzaffarnagar: Hours Before Cremation of Headless Body, ‘Missing’ Man Found Living With Girlfriend in Chandigarh.
