Kalinganagar, December 26: At least five people were injured in an explosion at steel plant site of Maithan Ispat Limited at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district of Odisha on Wednesday. After the incident, four workers were shifted nearby hospital while two critical were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack. Two of them who sustained 80 per cent burns are said to be in critical condition. Karnataka: 6 Dead, 5 Injured in Explosion at Sugar Factory in Bagalkot District.
The injured workers were identified as Manas Mallick, Umanath Yadav, Sunil Majhi and Umesh Ray. Meanwhile, an investigation has been started to find the cause of the explosion. Earlier in a similar incident from Karnataka, six people were killed and five critically injured after a boiler blasted in Nirani sugars at Mudhol in Bagalkot district of Karnataka on December 16. Later the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital. While the cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained.
