Odd-Even Rule in Delhi To Be Lifted For Next 3 Days; 297 Challans Issued on Day 6

The Delhi police on Saturday issued 297 challans for violating the odd-even scheme. The number of challans issued on the sixth day of the rule saw a dip as compared to last two days. A total number of challans issued on Friday was 532, while 453 challans were issued on Thursday.

New Delhi, November 9: There will be no odd-even restriction in the national capital for the next three days. The rule does not apply on Sunday. In addition to this, the Delhi government has also given relaxation in the odd-even scheme on November 11 and 12 due to 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind kejriwal in a press conference had said that the decision was taken so that there is no disturbance in celebrations of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police on Saturday issued 297 challans for violating the odd-even scheme. The number of challans issued on the sixth day of the rule saw a dip as compared to last two days. A total number of challans issued on Friday was 532, while 453 violations were reported on Thursday. The Delhi police issued 271 challans on the first day of the scheme. On the second and the third day of the scheme 562 and 406 challans were issued respectively.

The odd-even rule has come into force on November 4 by the Delhi government to control air pollution in the national capital. The violators of the odd-even rule are being fined Rs 4,000. Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government claimed that due to this scheme, around 15 lakh vehicles had been pulled out from the roads. It is the third time when the odd-even rule has been implemented in the national capital. The scheme will be implemented until November 15 between 8 am to 8 pm. Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi continued to remain under the ''very poor'' category for the second consecutive day on Saturday. According to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi docked at 335 at 8:30 in the morning.
