Riyadh, October 2: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, in meeting with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, explained India's move to strip Jammu & Kashmir's semi-autonomous status. During the meeting, UAE Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was also present. Officials privy to the development have told reporters that the top Saudi leader was convinced about the rationale behind the Narendra Modi government's decision to abrogate Article 370.

Doval's explainer on the Kashmir move comes days after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan sought the international community's intervention from the UNGA platform. Khan had also visited Riyadh last month in his bid to internationalise the Kashmir issue. In his meeting with the Crown Prince, the Pakistan PM had pitched for a rigid stand to be adopted by all Islamic nations against India over the alleged human rights' violations in the Kashmir Valley. Majority of Kashmir Supporting Move, 92.5% of J&K Freed of Restrictions.

The official, while speaking on the condition of anonymity to HTsaid the meeting was not restricted to any one specific issue. Apart from deliberating on Kashmir, Doval and Prince Salman also spoke on strengthening regional security and striving towards global peace, he said.

The attacks on the oilfields of Aramco also featured in the meeting, with Doval expressing solidarity with the Saudi leadership in their response to tackle such terrorist activities in the future.

The drone attacks had damaged nearly 70 per cent of the crude output in Khuras, which is the Kingdom's second-largest oilfield. While the Houthi rebels of Yemen, who are in a military confrontation with the Saudi forces, have claimed responsibility for the attack, the Saudi leadership and their all-weather ally United States has pinned the blame on Iran.
