Guwahati, August 31: The final list of National Register of Citizens or NRC has been published by the Assam government. The final list of NRC is available online at official websites - nrcassam.nic.in and thefinalnrc.com. According to a press statement, over 19 lakh out of 3,30,27, 661 applicants have been left out of the final NRC list. Residents of Assam can also check if their names are included in NRC at NRC Seva Kendra and office of circle officers and office of Deputy Commissioners.

Out of the total of 3,30,27, 661 applicants, 3,11,21,004 people have been included. As many as 19,06,657 have been excluded in the final NRC list. "A total of 3,11,21,004 persons found eligible for inclusion in final NRC, leaving out 19,06,657 persons including those who did not submit their claims," NRC state coordinator Prateek Hajela said. The NRC was first prepared for Assam in 1951, and the current exercise is an update.

Descendants of those who were included in NRC in 1951 will be incorporated in the final list. The final NRC list, also called Supplementary List of Inclusions and Exclusions, includes those in any of the electoral rolls up to March 24, 1971, or in any one of other admissible documents issued up to that date, as well as the descendants of such people.

The first part of the draft NRC, called Part Draft NRC, was published in December, 2017 and included the names of 1.9 crore people out of the 3.29 crore applicants, leaving 1.30 crore out. The final draft of the NRC contained 2.9 crore names, while 40.07 lakh were excluded. The Ministry of Home Affairs has reiterated that non-inclusion of a person's name in the final list of NRC does not amount to his or her being declared a foreigner.

The Assam government will set up an adequate number of Foreigner Tribunals (FT) at convenient locations and would also make arrangements to provide legal aid to the needy people amongst those excluded from the NRC.

How to Check Names Online in Final NRC List
