Bhopal, August 7: Much to the happiness of people using their personal vehicles to commute, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) has installed a system at petrol pumps in Bhopal that allow paying for fuel by simply punching the thumb. Reports inform that the IOCL has installed the machine at two of its petrol pumps in Bhopal by which one can just pay the refuel amount using the thumb as the machine will have the updated KYC details of the person.

According to a report by Dainik Jagran, the IOCL has tied up with Oxigen Micro Agency and IDFC bank to roll out the facility at its fuel stations. Top officials aware of the development said the payment machines will be rolled out at other petrol pumps countrywide in the coming months. It must be noted that the payment facility works through retail networking.

The payment is done in the following manner:

  • The Oxigen Micro ATM machine allows the owner to accept payments in several methods, other than cash.
  • The Oxigen Micro ATM machine installed at the petrol pumps allows commuters to pay money by just using their thumb
  • The machine allows payment made through credit card, debit card, UPI, BHIM, Aadhaar pay Bharat QR code and UPI.

Reports inform that after the installation of two machines in Bhopal, IOCL plans to expand the facility to other places across the country thus giving a boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Under Digital India programme.
