Chennai, November 2: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has alarmed the states of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka and Rayalaseema regions as the northeast monsoon set in over on Friday, November 2, 2018.
The MeT Department has also warned of "heavy to very heavy rainfall" at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in past 24 hours.
The Nagapattinam and Karaikal districts received good rainfall on Thursday. The MeT department has predicted "heavy to very heavy rainfall" at isolated places and possibility of thunderstorms in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala."
According to media reports, the monsoon is 10 days late. During northeast monsoon, Tamil Nadu receives rainfall from October to December, but this time, the rainfall is expected to be more than normal.
