New Delhi, October 17: The Patiala House Court on Wednesday issued a non-bailable warrant against Ashish Pandey, the son of a former BSP MP Rakesh Pandey, even as the Delhi police continue to hunt him. Ashish Pandey has been absconding since he whipped out a pistol during a scuffle with a man at a luxury hotel in the national capital last Sunday.
Ashish Pandey's mobile telephone's signals were last picked up in Uttar Pradesh's Basti district bordering Nepal, a Delhi police officer told IANS. On Tuesday, authorities alerted airports and Delhi Police personnel reached Lucknow in search of him. A police team, led by Inspector Harish Chandra, went to his house and those of his relatives but could not find him.
In a video, Ashish Pandey and his friends were heard abusing the man who used the ladies' washroom at the porch of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Pandey then pulls out his gun and threatens the couple. The video of the incident went viral on social media resulting in a massive public outrage prompting the police to step in and launch a hunt for the accused.
Gaurav Kanwar, ex-Congress MLA’s son, who was threatened by Pandey said the accused pulled out his gun and shouted, “I will kill you” which “scared” him to the extent that he did not approach the police, he said in a statement. Pandey has been booked for brandishing a gun and threatening people. A ‘look out circular’ has also been issued against him.
