Kanpur, July 26: A peculiar gang of thieves, dubbed the 'Pakoda Gang,' has been causing alarm in Uttar Pradesh's Noida with their unconventional burglary tactics. Instead of immediately stealing valuables, the gang first heads to the kitchen to cook pakoras and enjoy whatever food they find in the fridge then take a smoke break or chew paan. They also take time to relax inside the homes they target.
In a recent incident in Sector 25, the gang looted a resident's home, making off with jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh. According to The Indian Express, the gang doesn't just cook and rest; they also smoke beedis, drink water, and chew paan, which they spit in the victims' bathrooms. Following numerous such incidents, the police have launched an investigation, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Hridesh Katheria has set up a special task force to catch the thieves. Shockingly, the gang managed to rob six homes in a single day, prompting locals to take precautions by locking their doors and staying inside out of fear.
In another incident in Sector 82, the thieves stole cash, jewellery, and valuable items worth Rs 40 lakh. The gang targeted a house while the owner was in Madhya Pradesh with his entire family. They quietly broke the lock, made pakoras in the kitchen, and left with the stolen goods. When the owner returned, he found used tissue papers left behind. The gang followed the same pattern and targeted more houses in the same sector where residents were away for long periods. In an earlier bizarre incident in Lucknow, a burglar was caught sleeping at the crime scene. The intoxicated man broke into Dr Sunil Pandey's house while the owner was in Varanasi for work. Instead of stealing valuable items, the thief turned on the air conditioner and fell asleep on the living room floor. Neighbours noticed the open front gate and alerted both Pandey and the police. When the cops arrived, they found the burglar peacefully asleep. The 'Pakoda Gang' continues to baffle and terrorise residents with their unusual methods, and the police are working diligently to apprehend them.
