Lucknow, April 9: In an open violation of law and order in Uttar Pradesh, the son of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA slapped a cop after the official asked him to show the registration papers of his unnumbered car. Reports inform that the incident took place near Modi Chauraha in Gursarai area of Jhansi district during a routine checking drive on Sunday. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Rahul, the son of BJP MLA  Jawahar Rajput, who was stopped near from Garotha, allegedly slapped a police officer after he was asked to show the registration paper of his car.  Union Minister Jayant Sinha Shuns VIP Culture, Wins Hearts For His Humble Response to Air Hostess. 

Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Jhansi, OP Singh was quoted in the report saying that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident. Describing the incident, Singh informed that as his car’s number plate had no number, a cop on duty asked him to show the papers at which the BJP MLA’s son got furious and slapped the cop. Reports inform that Rahul kept repeatedly saying that he was an MLA’s son and such an act would land the police in a difficulty.

Rahul was taken into custody and was brought to the police station. As soon as news of the incident spread, the MLA (Rahul’s father) and his supporters staged a sit-in at the police station and alleged that the police had beaten up Rahul. Reports inform that the MLA demanded strict action against the policemen who had harassed his son. After several rounds interrogation with Jawahar Rajput, the BJP MLA, Rahul was released later in the night.

Reports inform that the additional superintendent of police (ASP), Jhansi, is looking into the complaint of the MLA and the reason that led to the incident. District magistrate, Jhansi, Shiv Sahay Awasthi said the police had the video footage of the incident and added that strict and impartial action would be ensured after the investigation.
