Patna, December 17: Missing posters of Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United (JDU) president have emerged in Patna. The posters are targeting the Chief Minister for his silence on Citizenship Amendment Bill and National Register of Citizens (NRC). JDU had recently supported the new Citizenship Act in Parliament creating a division in the party. JDU vice-president and election strategist Prashant Kishor, who publicly took a stand contrary to that of his party on CAA, had offered his resignation to Nitish Kumar. Recently, JDU general secretary Pavan Verma asked Kumar to clarify the party's position on CAA. "I have not heard anything from Nitish Kumar except that the party has gone ahead and supported the Bill in Parliament. Nitish Kumar needs to reply and clarify the party position. I don't deal with anyone else in the party or take cognisance of their comments," he said.
According to new Citizenship Act, members of the six non-Muslim-communities who have come from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh on or before 31 December 2014, and facing "religious persecution there" will not be treated as unlawful immigrants but given Indian citizenship.
