Hyderabad, October 15: Minister of Defence Nirmala Sitharaman has come under fire once again for granting permission to the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hold an event inside Secunderabad Cantonment. Ex-servicemen have come out against the Ministry of Defence on social media, expressing their anger against the move. The Bison Polo Ground and the Parade Ground in Secunderabad will be given to the BJYM for their national convention event. All Closed Roads in Cantonments Will Be Reopened Immediately.
Major DP Singh, who fought the Kargil war, called the move "another degradation of the Indian Army". "Here starts another degradation of Indian Army. Madam Nirmala Sitharaman may please put a check. While on one side forces are being used to clean up spoiled things due to misuse/corruption by civilians, on the other hand, things kept intact are being opened for their use. Jai Hind really," Major Singh tweeted.

Holding political rallies inside a Cantt is WRONG.
The designs behind opening of Cantts becoming clearer.....
And we have impotent senior officers who don't dare to take a stand

Another ex-serviceman Rohit Agarwal tweeted that holding political rallies inside the Cantonment area was wrong. He also called out the "senior officers" who were not "speaking up."
The Ministry of Defence, New Delhi, has allowed the use of Bison Polo Ground by the BJYM from October 12 to 28 for its national convention. The Parade Ground has also been allowed to be used for the convention from October 23 to 28. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has also hit out at the Ministry of Defence for having granted the permission.
