New Delhi, January 9: One of the convicts in the 2012 Delhi gangrape and murder case, Vinay Kumar Sharma has filed a curative petition before the Supreme Court. A Delhi Court had issued a death warrant against all four convicts on January 7 and they are scheduled to be executed on January 22 at 7 am.
The curative petition is the last judicial resort available for redressal of grievances in court which is normally decided by judges in-chamber. The plea was filed by Nirbhaya’s parents seeking the issuance of death warrant for all the four convicts at the earliest. Additional Sessions and District Court Satish Arora pronounced the verdict on January 7. Just after the Patiala Court convicted and announced the hanging of Nirbhaya case accused, the lawyer of Nirbhaya convicts AP Singh had said they will file a curative petition in the Supreme Court.
