Nirav Modi's Bail Plea in PNB Fraud Case to be Opposed by India, ED And CBI Officers to Leave For London

New Delhi, March 27: With an aim to expedite the process of extradition of fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi, a team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers will leave for London tonight to oppose his bail plea, reported India Today. According to the report, the team will assist the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) by sharing crucial evidence against the economic offender. Meanwhile, India has already handed over documents related to a chargesheet filed by the investigative agencies and a non-bailable warrant against the billionaire diamantaire.
Earlier this month, Modi was arrested in the United Kingdom. As per reports, he was arrested from the Holborn Metro Station on March 19. He was produced before the Westminster court the next day. The case has been posted to the Chief Magistrate, and the next hearing in his case will be held on March 29. The billionaire diamantaire fled India after defaulting on loans worth Rs 13,500 crore from Punjab National Bank (PNB) using Letters of Undertaking (LoU) in collusion with his uncle Mehul Choski.
