Pune, September 30: In an unfortunate incident in Maharashtra, a 31-year-old engineer allegedly died of a suspected cardiac arrest in Pune after he collapsed while playing cricket. The alleged incident occurred recently at Pradhikaran in Pune's Nigdi. The deceased has been identified as Abhijit Gowardhan Chaudhari, who lives at Padmini Society in Pradhikaran.

According to reports, Chaudhari was working with a private firm in Nigdi. Soon after the incident came to light, the police registered an incident of death pending inquiry into the cause. During the preliminary probe, cops learned that Chaudhari was playing cricket with his friend when he suffered the suspected cardiac arrest. The 31-year-old was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital; however, doctors pronounced him dead. Meanwhile, Shatrughna Mali, in charge of Nigdi police station, said that the initial observations point to the incident to be a case of death due to a cardiac arrest. Mali also said that they have registered an incident of death pending an inquiry into the sequence of events that led to his death.

The police officer further stated that they would rely on observations and reports of the doctors. In a separate incident which occurred on September 26, a 19-year-old college girl allegedly fell to death from the 29th floor of a high-rise building in Amanora township in Hadapsar. While the police suspect the incident to be a case of suicide, they are yet to find a suicide note.
