NICE Road Speed Limit: Bengaluru Police Caps Speed Limit on Expressway Connecting Bangalore and Mysuru, Bans Two-Wheelers at Night; Check Timings and Other Details

Bengaluru, August 3: In a bid to curb rash driving and road accidents in the city, Bengaluru police have put a cap on the speed limit on the NICE Road highway. The police have also prohibited two-wheelers from using the access-controlled road that connects Tumkur Road and Hosur Road between 10 pm and 5 am. Confirming the capping on speed limit, B Dayananda, City Police Commissioner, said the new rules were necessary to curb the rising number of accidents.

According to news reports, the new traffic regulations which came into effect from Friday, August 2, is aimed at curbing road accidents especially those involving two-wheelers. It must be noted that in the past, NICE road had no speed limits. Similarly, M2 and M3 category vehicles will have capped speed limit of 100 kmph. M2 and M3 category vehicles include those passenger vehicles with nine or more seats plus the driver. Besides, the city police has set 80 kmph as speed limit for motorcycles and N category vehicles (goods vehicles).

This year, the NICE Road highway has seen 13 fatal and 52 non-fatal accidents until June 30. The NICE road is a 4 to 6lane expressway connecting Bengaluru and Mysuru.
